In her film, a student of the University of West Bohemia makes a humorous commentary on her grandpa’s journeys across Africa. To portray his memories and give a vivid picture of the African countryside and wilderness, she chose plastic in natural brown and beige colours.

This 3D black and white film by a director from the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen visualises a metaphor of dealing with problems in our lives. Using a minimalist setting and score, the director starts a cycle of escapes from cages in which we inevitably find ourselves again and again.

This lino-cut music video made for a Czech alternative band named Planety tells a story of love set in an ocean enclosed in a small aquarium. The director, a student of the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, plays with phased lino-cut movements supplemented by hand-drawn details.

This film, which in its time fascinated audiences at dozens of festivals, portrays Snow White’s last dream that she has during her way to the emergency room. The director uses CGI animation in his own way and is equally original content-wise. The girl’s surrealist dream is swarming with altered and deformed Walt Disney characters.

Much like in the real world, everything in the latest film by the classic of Czech hand-drawn animation has its dark side. The author elaborates on that quite literally as his film has two parts: an optimistic part taking place on one side of the paper and a pessimistic part taking place on the other.

As the rhythm of the cycle accelerates, the viewers recognize a hidden life of the entire apparatus. The American author of this short film makes use of a minimalist artistic style which he eventually turns into an unusual dance.

Tomáš Červenka made his experimental film with 2D and 3D computer animation. He created rich structures that use colours and textures to bring contrast to a background with a message formulated by gleaming words.

The intrusiveness of sunlight recounts adolescent insecurities and vulnerability in this boyhood chronicle of boredom.
