Unlike most adaptations, this one shows the darker sides of the popular story. The film uses sequences from Buster Keaton slapsticks. Even though the author follows certain motifs from the original story, he focuses on feeling rather than narration. That makes his film a series of escapes combined with nightmarish scenes.
