Panther is an intensive study about freedom. What does an animal in captivity feel? Can these feelings be visualised at all? The director’s characteristically restless animation found ideal material in Rainer Maria Rilke’s poem about a panther kept in the menagerie of a Parisian botanical garden. Once again, the director accompanies his suggestive visual style with expressive music, this time based on the electric guitar.
